CDD-Ghana to Share Election Observation Experiences in Kenya
The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has been invited by the Washington based National Democratic Institute (NDI) to take part in an Africa-wide workshop on new technologies in election observation in Nairobi Kenya.
Under the theme “Citizen Technologies and Electoral Accountability,” the Nairobi workshop would provide a platform for the Center to share the success story of its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) election observation methodology with other election observation groups across Africa.
Ghana’s premier independent election observation group, the Coalition for Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), which has its secretariat in CDD-Ghana became the first election observation group in Ghana to use the PVT methodology to independently observe Ghana’s Presidential elections in December 2008. The conduct of the PVT by CODEO has been adjudged by the NDI as one of the best ever conducted anywhere in World.
The Center participated in a similar workshop on best practices and regional collaboration in election monitoring across West Africa organized by the NDI in November 2009.
