CDD-Ghana presents research findings on Capitation Grant to MPs
The study tracked possible leakages and inefficiencies in the disbursement and usage of the Capitation Grant in thirty (30) public basic schools in Ghana. It tracked leakages in the disbursement of the grant from the Ghana Education Service (GES) through the District Education Units to the beneficiary schools, and assessed the robustness of the transparency and accountability measures that have been put in place for the efficient management of the funds.
In a statement, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and the Member of Parliament for Nadowli East, Hon. Mathias Asoma Puozaa, said the Committee has visited parts of the Central and Volta Regions to observe how the schools were utilizing the grant. He said the Committee will study the report and take the necessary action. Also present at the briefing was Prof. Dominic Fobih, former Minister of Education, Science and Sports.
