Turn Out High and Polls Generally Peaceful-CODEO
A report issued by the Coalition of Domestic Electoral Observers (CODEO) at 1200Hrs (mid-day) on Tuesday said there was a high voter turnout illustrating voter enthusiasm.
The report described the conduct of electoral officials as professional, independent and neutral.
It said voting started on time though there were some instances of delay, but said they were isolated.
The CODEO report indicated that there were adequate supplies of materials at most polling stations.
Million of voters throughout the country yesterday thronged the various constituencies to vote for a President and 230 Parliamentarians.
As early as 4.30am long queues had formed at the polling stations as people waited for the exercise to start.
Presiding officers at the various stations predicted massive turnout by noon as a sizeable proportion of registered voters had cast their votes.
