Mission Statement

Focusing on a clear-cut vision of conflict resolution, constitutionalism and demilitarization through the development of mechanisms of mediation, research of issues of conflict, constitutional engineering and development.

Objectives of CENCOD

  • Creatively promote constitutional development as recipes for social disharmony, crisis of nationhood and the failed state;
  • Demilitarize the polity by fostering the growth of democratic and civic values and their consolidation in the polity;
  • Seek and encourage peaceful, fair and democratic resolution of conflicts;
  • Foster a consciousness of mutual respect and cohabitation in the realm of ideas and social intercourse;
  • Promote a crisis-free environment for sustainable development;
  • Promote political education of the armed section of society for the purpose of respect and protection of the constitution;
  • Promote environmental equilibrium and sustainable development;
  • Propagate ideas of nation-building tasks and other civic functions and peacetime roles to the military.

    A Brief Statement of Activities

    Activities are anchored on two broad approaches. First is a programmatic empowerment of civil society through political enlightenment projects such as lectures, seminars, and constitutional roundtables for legislators, policymakers and the general public, and researching conflict situations. Second, is institutional and capacity building.

    Carrying out the development of a nationwide network for researching on issues of conflict and for mediatory interventions. Expert-resourced workshops to examine constitutional processes with a view to accounting for failures and developing safeguards. Quantify level of militarization of socio-political structures, Institute projects of restitution and recovery and educate the public on the supremacy of the rule of law and respect for fundamental human rights.

    Publication:

    Publishes the bi-annual journal, The Constitution
