Mission Statement of COPPED
To promote respect for fundamental human rights and dignity.
Objectives of COPPED
- Supports local communities whose environments are under threat as a result of petroleum exploitation activities.
- To mediate between communities involved in mutually destructive inter-communal conflicts, which COPPED views as intrinsically linked to the activities of multi-national corporations.

- Mediation in inter-communal conflicts linked to activities of multi-national companies
- Has succeeded in bringing peace to these communities
- Has established relationships with several international peace organizations.
